Hong Kong to Phuket and Still No Luggage

What up people!?! So, we are in Phuket, Karon Beach specifically, and we are loving life despite the fact that we still do not have our luggage. Awesome right? I have called every day most times twice a day to Air Canada, then to Air China and then to the Phuket airport. Today they are supposed to be delivering the bags to our hotel... And WE get to pay for the delivery, and wait around for an hour hoping they actually bring us the correct bags. Nice.

~at the Phuket Karon traffic circle and no, Cami is not wearing pants...~

So, we lounged around at our hotel near the airport on Wednesday swimming a bit at the pool and eating some awesome vietnamese, I got a Raw beef vietnamese soup, aka sate beef soup, and Cami got a coconut seafood rice dish, and both were delicious. Then we got on our air asia flight to Phuket.

Air Asia was better than I thought it was going to be, Steve got me a bit nervous, but it was like flying on Air Canada Jazz, no frills, and it was fine. Cami kept on getting kicked in the back by some little child, but she moved in front of me and then it was alright. (I didn't kick her once!)

When we got to Phuket we were told by some Australians not to take the Taxis right in front of the airport as they'll try and rip you off for like 1200 baht or something, but hang a right at the doors and find the taxi meter taxis. We got a ride to our hotel an hour away for 25 USD, so that wasn't bad. Our hotel is a dozen quaint little bungalows on the cliffs above Karon Beach, but by the time we got here it was One in the morning, and sleep has been hard to come by with our sleep schedules and jet lag all messed up.

After getting some shut eye, we had a nice breakfast at the Hotel restaurant, with squeeze jam for our toast and then we were off to the beach. I couldn't help but watch the waves all the way down to the market and Cami said we could get a board for a couple of hours.

~delicious fresh cut pineapple for a dollar and very messy!~

The waves weren't great, but it was nice to get out and we both caught some good ones. While I was surfing Cami almost lost her sunglasses to a beach side vendor who asked if he could see her glasses, then asked "how many," to which she replied "One year,"but when he started rifling through his pants for one Euro so that he could buy them off of her, she quickly clarified that they weren't for sale. Later we met up with him again and he told me that he liked my shorts and that I should bring them tomorrow to trade with him.

~mmmm... Pad Thai...~

After surfing we went into the market and ate at a nice little outdoor vendor and had some awesome Pad Thai and a spicy seafood salad with some orange Fantas. They were delicious. Like seriously fantastic. We finished it off with a banana Pancake with some nutella. I also think that there were about six custom tailors that tried to sell me suits.

~best "pancake" ever, w/ that orange oil stuff...~

After the market we made our way home to try and find something to do, but because we were so tired we both had a nap.
We finished the day off by going to Mali Seafood restaurant where the owner was having a karaoke party. It was pretty amusing listening to Thais sing badly accented american songs like Hotel California, ( Cami's favourite line of which was "this could be Heaven or this could be Hell" ... pronounced "This could be Heaven or this could be Hair"...) and Smooth by Santana among others. I had a green curry chicken dish and Cami had a soup with crazy big jumbo shrimp heads in it. Both were delicious.

Today we are waiting for our luggage, and then we are off to take the ferry over to Ko Phi Phi.

~Our hotel is up on that cliff, the stairs are right by the blue and white tent, beautiful view~

~I don't know what this means.....~
