Good Morning everyone, well it's morning for us anyway. We've had an exciting week and we'll start it all off with a picture of our scary apartment's stairway and a weird picture of a bunnyish thing. It's kind of funny because if we spend any length of time in our apartment it kind of just feels like we are home and then we walk outside into the stairwell and we are thrown half way across the world into Hong Kong. I don't know if anyone else has had a similar experience, but it's kind of crazy.

So Cami had brought you up to speed until Thursday, but we had some fun Thursday and Friday. Ready Jeff... we joined a climbing gym. I know you're super excited for us and for the fact that I'll be able climb 5.10 when I get home. Anyway this is a climbing gym that just opened up near us. It's about the same distance as my walk to the university, minus the uphill parts.
If everything is bigger in Texas, everything is smaller in Asia. So the route wall is seven meters tall, practically not worth tying in to, but it is close and it will help keep us in shape and the bouldering routes are pretty difficult. So, we joined, and played around for a bit. Both of our hands were pretty weak and the holds are really new so they are really abrasive.

So after we went climbing we decided to go out on the town to SOHO. In NY I'm pretty sure SOHO is for South of Houston Street and then NOHO is north of houston. (Yup it is I just googled it) and apparently SOHO is South of Hollywood Road. So now I know and now you know. So anyway on our way there we went through some sketchy alleys. Here is Cami by one now.
Sketchy Alley |
After walking through some crazy alleys we finally made it to the centre of the Hubub. There were cool restaurants everywhere and trendy expensive boutiques. We walked around and went up the infamous escalators.

All of the while we were getting asked to come and eat this or that restaurant. One of the door guys was exceptionally persistent and offered to buy us a drink and when we told him that we didn't drink alcohol, he brought us back some freshly squeezed orange juice, which was quite refreshing. He told us that he owned a Moroccan Restaurant just a street down and that seemed to catch our fancy so he called down to see if there was some room. However, after we saw the prices we moved on. We saw this Nepalese restaurant that looked good and when I asked if he had room for us, he said Yes, and I asked him if it was a nice place for us, and he said yes, very nice. So we thought ok lets do it. But then the story changed and he said that we had to give him a minute... But he said we could have a drink on him as well and go down to a pub that he owned. Apparently SOHO is full of restaurant owners who are trying to monopolize the area. So we had a drink at the pub, then the guy shows up about 15-20 minutes later, oh good it's time to go eat... no there were other people ahead of us and the table was for them, but he said he'd be back for us in five minutes. Not, completely buying it this time I told him that if he wasn't back to get us in five minutes we were walking. We came to find out in those five minute that there were a couple more people ahead of us and after five minutes we were out of there.
Our first free drink |
So As we continued on we walked past this little shrine and I took a picture of these giant incenses that burn for a really long time. I wonder how long they last for???
Incense |
To finally drive at our African Adventure. The price was approximately the same as the other restaurants, but there were places for us and there was a free band and it was african food. Yummy!

Because Cami and I like to try different things, but can't pack it away the way we used to we got the tapas portions and it was all delicious. We had Chicken DayJay, (DJ), Malfi, and Were Were vegetables and it came with yummy rice.
While we were enjoying our dinner the band came out and started to rock the joint! They played a range of tunes and most of them were really good. The guy on the drums at the front got a little excited some times and started banging away a little of beat, but the music was fun.
Now I have a rule that in order to dance with Cami there has to be at least one other couple out on the dance floor, otherwise I feel a little douchey making all of the other guys look bad for not dancing with their girls. Anyway, I broke the rule all for Camilla and I we were the first couple on the dance floor. But our first got some other people up and soon it was a PARTY.
However, I think that Asian people, like white people, don't naturally dance that well, because these asians were giving it their all and it looked a little like junior high gym class ballroom lessons. Anyway, I try to stay away from the underbites and try not to go crazy and hope that we looked better than the Asian couple- and hopefully better than this white guy that was going all Elaine all over the dance floor, kicks and thumbs and all fun!

So after dancing the night away we made our way home with finished it off, with you guessed it. McDonald's Ice Cream!
Your dancing rule is excellent Lockey, well played.
ReplyDeletesounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to hear that you are being conscientious of the underbite... way to ruin a good dance move.
